Ang Paghaplos ng Liwanag sa Luha ng Langit ( The Touch of Light in the Tears of Heaven )
by Alexander M. Roxas
(Sta. Maria, Bulacan, Philippines)
The Touch of Light on the Tears of Heaven
This painting won in a watercolor painting competition (Kulay sa Tubig Invitational Art Competition) here in the Philippines. Our country always experience typhoon. The last devastating one was the typhoon Ondoy were it killed many of my fellowmen specially here in Central Luzon. Rich, poor, even celebrities did not escape the said flood caused by typhoon specially those who were near the waterways, creek, rivers and canals.. After that devastation, one good thing was that everyone helped each other and kept their faith to God.. This painting actually symbolizes Filipinos (the rocks) that stood still even during the times of trials (the rain) also with our faith to God (the sunlight) who is always there to help us with our problem.
I used watercolor paint on a 21 inches by 29 inches 300gsm hot-pressed paper for this piece. It took me a week for this painting because of my work schedule in the office as a graphic artist. I just painted after the office where i had to travel about less than two hours going back to our home in Bulacan.Well this is my time of relaxation - to paint.
