Firemen Tribute paintings
by Peggy
(Coos Bay Oregon)
Burning building
Firemen's fear
Practice burn
The Firemens real dilemma.
Night burn was a practice burn where the house was condemned and scheduled to be burned, My youngest daughter is a fireman and so I was aware of the night burn which was only a few blocks from my house. My daughter offered to suit me up and take me on a walk through inside the burning house, I quietly declined....
The Charleston fire dept burning was scheduled to get ready for a new building, The skating rink was a very old building which had been sold to be torn down, instead a practice burn was done, there were firemen from 7 different areas on that burn, it was a large building taking all day to burn it. I took a lot of pictures of it.
The Farwest automotive was a real emergency fire, we were just a few blocks away when we saw the fire engines going by.... This was a big , fire out of control very dangerous with things inside the building exploding and the building right down town was very close to other buildings. It turned out to also be a very sad fire as we lost 3 firemen...
These paintings were taken from photos that we took. done this year. Fire as I found out is not easy to paint, it is a live , moving breathing thing, often full of unexpected events. The color of the flames can be many colors depending what is burning and the heat involved. I painted ten paintings and donated them to the fire dept as part of the memorial for those fallen.
