Iris flowers, purple iris

The purple iris is always a great painting subject. These particular iris flowers are so prolific. We have an entire bed of them. This particular photo was in a painting I did in blue. I'll try to post the finished work later, but for now, you can use this one in your own work. The water droplets add a very nice touch. You don't have to paint them all, but a few will brighten up your painting in ways that make it feel crisp and fresh! Just like when you cut this from the front garden.

The iris flower is such a versatile subject too. They come in blue, yellows, white, and multicolors. I just love'em 'cause they take so little time to care for and the blossoms last for several days.
