Red Poinsettia flower, Poinsettia art

Tis the season, so enjoy. These things are so hard to get to bloom or turn red again. I can grow them throughout the summer, they get nice and big. But not sure how long to keep them in the closet to start the reddening process. I've been looking to do a white one too! Just gotta make time for it.

Whats so nice about this particular plant were the tiny blue/purple blossoms in the center of each leaf grouping. I tried to capture that with this painting. It is a 30" x 30". My first set of paintings like this were done as a trio. One long one and 2 smaller. The idea was for the customer to be able to place the long one above a door, and then the smaller on either side. Not sure what the customer did in the end as they purchased 2 and the 3rd went to another customer (who had bought it earlier in the day). I understand from the gallery owner there was a bit of commotion or an incident as the later customer wanted all three. I guess the lesson learned was if you like it, buy it! Sooner than later cause you never know with art!
