Well, you've found my Rose of Sharon Painting Demonstration! This is of an older work, that I retained some of the photo's that show how the painting was created.
It will be broken up into two lessons. The initial dead and gray layer combined, and then the final layers on another page because there are a number of close-ups that I feel you will benefit from in seeing!
A close up of the right blossom in gray. Note some of the umber underlayer showing through.
Then to the left side of the painting.
And a close up of the right blossom.
A close up of the stem work below the right blossom. Notice that some details are creeping in, but no texture is being painted.
Then the rest of the blossom are put in.
Each blossom has a few touch ups.
To bring out the character of each.
And once this is dry, we will oil out the painting and begin the color layers in the next lesson.
