My Site Build It experience and making it online!So to continue in more detail about Site Build It, how I made this wonderful website, and how this software has changed my life, read on.... We have an update at the bottom too! Site Build It (SBI) was established by Dr. Ken Evoy in 1997. His series of books have helped hundreds of thousands of entrepreneurs and small businesses. Make Your Content PREsell! and Make Your Words Sell! formerly books sold by SiteSell, are now free. Needless to say, I like free . I was reading for several days, as the books were packed full of information. Some of which were applicable to my commercial site! I put some of it into action immediately.  Being bitten by get rich schemes before with empty promises and pie in the sky guarantees, even though my excitement level was hi, I still didn't buy. Going over in my mind the process as explained, and rereading the e-books, I couldn't sleep for 2 nights. My intuitive side kept stepping in and saying this was so right! After the 2 sleepless nights, and many discussions with my closest advisor, my wife agreed, lets try it! I took the leap and bought into the package. One of the promises was that the site, once put together, would build traffic quickly and help direct it to my original site. But this isn't a get rich quick scheme! It took several weeks before I felt I had enough info ready to even begin publishing pages. Site Build It helped me those first critical weeks to figuring out what exactly to write about, selecting a great domain name, and thinking of ways that the site could bring in income (monetizing). Site Build It removes the technical barriers allowing me to concentrate on building my business. Many functions are completely automated. I don't need to know anything upfront about building a Web site in order to succeed. The tedious, "under-the-hood" stuff is handled automatically so I focus on other important business-building activities. Take for example this "about easy painting" page. After typing up my text, I do a simple copy paste into their software, a wholla, you see what I've written! And I'm not ashamed to say, I paid 20 times more for my original site. (Site Build It now even has a monthly fee rate! Making it even more easier to get into this online business) It still serves it's purpose as an e-commerce site, but as time goes on, and I learn more about shopping cart technology and payment gateways, things may change on that front. I have since shut that old site down, Site Build It is performing leaps and bounds over the old site. As an artist, I also dream of that super duper 2000 square foot studio. But I still have children in middle school, so their college comes first! Yes, its been alot of work putting the site up, but I've had great help along the way with the guides, and the forums! I don't consider myself a "webmaster" or "computer geek". My html knowledge is very basic. What is "java-script?" Who cares, I don't need it to paint my paintings. Or in building this website with Site Build It. Easy painting techniques is already ranked in Google! Not the home page, but I'm in the top 30 for some of my other pages. And guess what else? They were right! Following the step by step guideline, (I used the video guide) in less than 60 days, the site was and is receiving as much traffic as my old site thats been up and running for over 2 years! And I've not spent a cent in "pay-per-click" advertising,or any other advertising for that matter! Not only that, but I've received sales already! Sorry if I'm coming across as being very excited! December 2009 update!This site has now been up for One Year! I want to pass on to you what has happened. In a nutshell, it has surpassed my commercial site, so much so that we have decided to shut the original "I can't name the vendor" e-commerce site down. This Site Build It - site has truly out performed it. We are now in the process of developing the commercial side of"Easy-Oil-Painting-Techniques" and it is so exciting. Be sure to click on the "traffic rank" tab to see the right numbers. The lower the number, the higher the rank! It runs on a 3 month average, but if you click the box, you will see the full report. I know, only computer geeks get excited about stuff like this, but for me, it is concrete evidence of the effectiveness of SBI! What does that really mean? There are 6,000,000 websites like mine out in cyber world. (google "oil painting techniques" and you'll see at the top of the page something like this: Results 1 - 100 of about 5,900,000 for oil painting techniques. (0.18 seconds) ) This number changes frequently depending on googles algorithims, it started out at 28 million when I first built my site.  The bottom line? Type in a search for "oil painting techniques". This is the main focus of my site. My home page is now ranked in the top 20 of all these sites. This also can change as time goes by, but I'll try to keep this page up to date. The main point, the bottom line, I can be found doing a simple search about oil painting with only "organic" traffic. I don't use advertizing, at least not yet. (though my web guru says that is the next step to go mega huge!) We will see.
November 2010 update!Still going strong! Am I making a full time living from my Site Build It - site yet? No, but it's making my mortgage payment! Yep! And that gives me more time to PAINT! (And take my wife out for some fab dinners also!) And with the business growth, I'm seriously thinking about a studio upgrade! When definitive plans are made, I'll post them here. Right now, I'm a bit of a tight wad, and as long as my present studio serves it's purpose, well, I'll think of something to do with the excess income. Ummmmm, I wonder how my chrome jar is doing?Is this a get rich quick scheme? Absolutely not. But it is a legitimate business model that works.
