How do you paint swirling dust as under and around running horses?

Dust, Mist, and spraying water

Hi Lana!

If you have an example, or a photo of what you're working on, forward it to me, and I'll post it here.

Probably the quickest technique is with glazes. Once the underlying paint layer has dried, come back in with the color that best represents to dust, mist or water, and with a thin layer (much medium added to paint) apply the paint to the areas. This can be then blending or feathered out on edges that need to be softened, or left with a definitive sharp edge depending on the intensity of the dust.

If anyone has an example, email it and I'll post it to this question so others can see. Presently, I don't have any to post.
