Let Me Show You

Let Me Show You!

Let Me Show You!

These are my first portraits, I have been painting in oils since 2012, but never tried to paint a portrait.

Recently I decided to paint my granddaughter washing some pottery from a photos I took, she was so cute saying "Let me show you how to do it, Ya-ya".

Being that I am so new at this I would love a critique.

Since these two I have completed 2 more.

Yes, I did start with toning the canvas and the Flemish technique.

Well done on portrait
by: Bernice

Well done your portrait is excellent. Did you use the Flemish technique first or did you go straight in with the colour

What's to Critique!
by: Delmus

All I can say is BRAVO! These are simply gorgeous! You've captured the likeness and the innocence of this young child.

I'm loving the composition in both, the color, skin tones, and sharpness of focus in the face and not the hands. The hair is rendered well and the background keeps you pulled into the painting.

WOW!

Based on the photo's I'm going to assume these are 11" x 14" paintings? Let me know by commenting back on their sizes.

Are these on canvas or board?

You should be proud of this accomplishment. These really are good. Frame them, and hang them in a prominent place in your home.

I hope you don't mind, I'm going to move these over to the portrait section of the site under the "portrait" button in the navigation bar on the left.

Best wishes, you are well on your way!
