Mountain Summit Alla Prima

Mountain Summit Alla Prima

I'm 84 and this is my first alla Prima painting. This is a Bob Ross inspired painting.
It is on an 16X20 cheap canvas just laying around that I could learn with and painted with Bob Ross paints.
I surprised myself with the result and though it has a lot of flaws I thought that it turned out well for my first painting in this style. I am encouraged to try more landscapes as that is how it should be for all painters learning to improve.
Also, It was painted in 4 hours.

Bob Ross inspired painting

Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing. It brought me to a happy place, which is the goal of a landscape. It's hard to believe this is your first painting. There are a few composition issues, but they are just issues that lead the viewer out of the painting and would require too much change to correct. The high chroma (blue)center of the distant mountain would not likely appear in a true to life scene, and this can easily be corrected. Just tone it down.

You rightly should be proud of this work. Congrats on a job well done.

I'm sorry if I have confused anyone. Although this is my first Alla Prima oil painting,I have painted for several years in the past, stopped and came back to painting after a few years off.
Oil painting was always frustrating to me because it took so long to finish one.
Thank you for your comments

Well done David... I'm a newbie to oil painting (any style of painting for that matter) Bob Ross inspired me to pick up a brush as well... Great job
