Stories from my garden, A Sunflower Portrait

Stories from my garden, A Sunflower Portrait

I love to garden, it's probably the only other hobbie I love as much as painting. This is the first of a series of paintings I'm doing - flowers from my garden. They are 8x10 extra wide box type canvas that don't need framing - in oil.

Jenny's painting

African Elephants at sunset

African Elephants at sunset

I was commissioned to paint this. I absolutely hate it but the girl who paid for it loves it and I guess that's what counts. I didn't even want to show it to her and offered to repaint it but she was sold when she laid eyes on it. I guess beauty really is in the eye of the beholder! ha ha It's 16x20 on gallery wrapped canvas in oil.

Editors Note:
The painting is fantastic! The gradient within the colors for the sunset are simply beautiful, and the silhouette is also tranquil. It is a great painting, don't question your customers!
They know what they like. thanks for sharing this Peggy.

Moonlight in the bay

Moonlight on the Bay

Moonlight on the Bay

Wanted to try painting on a black canvas - so I painted a 12x12 canvas board with all black oil and let it dry. Then I covered it with Linseed oil and went to work. I've never done a moon light painting before and really had alot of fun! Next, I think I will TRY flowers but we will see. . . . :)

Editors Note:

Thanks for sharing, yes, the black canvas can be exciting to work on. I can remember a High School project that required us to do something similar. Your painting brought back such memories. It was an exciting time of discoveries both in the class room and out! This reminded me too of the paintings done in the 70's on black velvet. Wow, now that's a throwback!
Thanks for sharing, and bringing back all those memories!

Can't wait to see your flower paintings!

Lea

This is the first portrait I have ever painted. My daughter, Lea. It's 9x12" canvas - oil. I've never had so much fun painting before. I hope you like it and I look forward to many more portraits.
