Oil Portrait

Here is my first Commissioned portrait of a Three star general In Army..
The condition was to bring out the expressions, eyes and the form exactly what was depicted in the picture.
The add on & bit of challenge was to add name tabs, ribbons below the actual picture which was sent separately to be added on.
Also the Salt & paper Beard more towards white, with making very fine hairs.
Would love to hear from you on this..

Review of the portrait.

You have indeed captured a likeness. Those that know this man will recognize him in the painting. My only complaint would be, why would he want a commission of this particular photo. The finger is a distraction. Had it been a hand jester to the side of his head, of below the chin line it wouldn't bother me, but its present position just blocks the view of a 3rd of his handsome face.

The main thing is if your client loves it, and that really is all that matters!

And of course, you received a handsome payment!

Best wishes, and happy painting.
