Summertime in Milwaukee

Summertime in Milwaukee is a good representation of the funky, bright-colored, abstract art I love to create! This piece depicts, in a very playful way might I add, several of the iconic Milwaukee landscape features.

Milwaukee, as many of you know, is located on the shores of Lake Michigan. It is known as "A Great Place on a Great Lake" and is absolutely the way I feel about this city.

The playful boats in the forefront represent the strong influence the water has on this city, particular for fun in the warmer months. The McKinley Marina is home to numerous vessels owned by private owners, however there are a great number of boats for rent, boats that give tours, boats that cruise across the lake, and those that just hang on the shorelines and hang out.

The bridge represents the bridge that joins Discovery World to Lake Shore State Park, and leads into the downtown area where you'll see Discovery World, the Gas Company building and the US Bank Building.

I had a lot of fun painting this piece! I participate in a weekly painting lab with some fellow artist and a teacher that guides us. It took me 3 classes to get this piece just the way I wanted!

I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed painting it! Thank you for letting me share it Delmus and thank you for this website! I am a fellow SBIer myself. :)

Don't know if you are open to sharing my etsy store, but in the event that you are, it's called StefanieArtGallery

Thank you again!

Thank you Delmus! And again, I just love your site! I plan to look through it a bit more and implement some of your techniques. Loved the piece on preparing your own canvases....even the store bought ones! I had no idea this was a necessity.
