Empire Lake, mirror calm partly cloudy day
Empire lake is actually two lakes, man made years ago between the city Coos Bay, Empire lake and the local community college.
One of the pathways into the park is the end of our street, so we often walk there and take many pictures any time of the year. The city stocks the lakes with rainbow trout, last time we were we saw a 12 year old boy catch a 17 inch trout, he really had a big smile.
the lakes are lower lake and upper lake, we usually walk around lower lake , its less hilly. its a mile and a half around the lake so its a nice healthy walk and there are benches all through the park to just sit and rest on or look at the lake activities.Only row boats or small boats with peddle pushing are allowed, no motor boats, swimming is allowed, many days we'll see quite a few walkers and joggers dogs are allowed on leash and you carry doggie bags...
the park it closed at dusk and patrolled by city police at night. so its beautiful. healthy . and safe....and we can walk into the park in less than five minutes.

Peggy! Is there any real estate for sale out there? I'm ready to pack my bags and relocate, this place is sooo GORGEOUS! And 17" trout!
Heaven on Earth sounds like to me.

Mingus Park, Coos Bay, Oregon
This park is in the city of Coos Bay about a 10 minute drive from our house. Its a beautiful city park very well kept up.... The front of the park has a large pond with ducks, geese and swans, they raise their families there... it is stocked with small fish for the birds, sea gulls also spend a lot of time there , Coos Bay is right next to the sea.
There is a nice family area with playgrounds for the kids, picnic tables and benches all around the park. Again dogs are on leash and doggie bags are provided at baggie dispencers through out the park.
The northern area of the park has more trees and smaller lakes and streams with many flowers and greenery, paths leading all around the park are paved. this area is where I take most of the pictures, we got these pictures just a week ago and we arrived shortly after 9 am so the sunlight was filtering through the trees. Made very nice pictures.
Editors Note:
Now I know some of my readers will not resist these! If you are a landscape painter, Monet would be jealous of these gardens. Hopefully one of these beautiful scenes will spark the fire of excitement and nudge someone into painting it!
Thanks again for sharing!

Sunset Beach State Park Coos Bay Oregon
Sunset beach park is a small park around a cove next to the road on the way to Shore Acres. There is swimming . picnic area and a beautiful stream around the picnic area that ends going into the sea. Its a popular area for families, same rules allowed for dogs... you can hike up the cliff over looking the sea there are benches at the top to rest and take pictures even a couple of picnic tables for those who want less people around, my husband and I have hiked it many times but not as often now days.
These pictures were taken around the stream area. Across the road from the area is a camp ground for motorhomes and regular camping. and a golf club up further on the hill.
There are other view points and turn puts and pathways along the road to Shore Acres. Even a turn out parking area to view the sea lions with a telescope for public viewing...
